63-year-old man accused of killing Idaho chiropractor
BONNERS FERRY, Idaho (CBS2) — A 63-year-old man has been charged with the murder of an Idaho chiropractor back in March.
Idaho State Police says Daniel L. Moore, 63, of Bonners Ferry was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after several tips from the community and a multiple-agency investigation effort.
On March 12, authorities say Dr. Brian Drake was found dead from a gunshot wound inside his Bonners Ferry office on the 6800 block of Main Street.
He left behind a wife and four children.
"As Brian's loved ones, we were devastated to hear news of his senseless murder," the family said in a statement. "As a chiropractor, he loved his patients and he loved serving people and helping the people of Northern Idaho. He brought joy and laughter to those around him. He had a tremendous heart, and his loss has wrought a tremendous hole in our hearts. We will never understand the senselessness of the loss of Brian's life - a life that brought so much joy, meaning, companionship, and love to others.
Idaho State Police would not disclose a motive but said authorities uncovered "compelling evidence." Moore is being held in the Boundary County Jail.
"Our interest from the very beginning of this investigation was justice for the victim's family," said Capt. John Kempf of the Idaho State Police District 1 in Coeur d'Alene. "The community was also compelled by the tragedy of this case. ISP detectives are extremely grateful to the individuals who came forward with information that was helpful in moving this case forward."
