Who was Barbara Weaver?
Barbara Weaver was an Apple Creek, Ohio native who was born on February 2, 1979.
She was married to Eli Weaver in a ceremony which took place in May 1999.
Eli and Barbara were parents to five children in their longterm marriage.
However, their relationship was a rocky one as they had marital issues.
Eli was known to step out of his marriage multiple times, having gone on dates with other women.
Barbara wrote in a letter to her counselor, per All That’s Interesting saying: “Where did my friend, love, trustworthy husband go to? He hates me to the core.”
What happened to Barbara Weaver?
On June 2, 2009, Barbara was found unresponsive in her home by one of her children.
When police arrived on the scene, they discovered Barbara suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.
After further investigation, authorities linked the murder to Weaver’s husband where it was revealed he asked several people to kill his wife.
While many denied his request, his mistress Barbara Raber took on the task.
Text messages between Weaver and Raber showed them talking about different ways they could pull off the murder.
A text from Raber said: “I thought if we could get that fly [poison] stuff in a spice cupcake she might not detect it.”
When Raber was arrested, police found Raber had 840 internet searches on different poisons.
However, Raber snuck into the house and settled on using a gun to murder Weaver.
Both Raber and Eli Weaver were arrested on June 10, 2009, and charged with aggravated murder.

Barbara Raber was a taxi driver who was formerly part of the Amish community in Ohio.
However, she left to be with her husband who is a Mennonite.
Like the Weavers, Raber has three kids with her husband.
Since being convicted of aggravated murder, Barbara Raber was sentenced to 23 years to life in prison.
She is currently at the Ohio Reformatory for Women and is eligible for parole in 2032.
