Boise sets all-time heat record amidst one of the snowiest Januarys on record

Publish date: 2024-07-29

The wild weather this winter continues to swing to both ends of the spectrum as Boise sets the all-time heat record for this day.

This January has ranked as one of the snowiest on record, less than five inches from the all-time snowiest in 1929. Though we saw snow fall fast and furious in the beginning portion of the month, this week is shaping up to be near the record-high temperature as well.

The high for Monday came in at 58 degrees, passing the recorded high temperature for this day set in 1967 of 56, according to the National Weather Service in Boise. Burns and McCall are also forecasted to be at or above the record high-temperature today.

A high-pressure system has developed over eastern Oregon and southwest Idaho, which deflects storms to the north. Moisture is expected to return Thursday and Friday as temperatures will gradually work their way back down through the weekend.
