Intersex woman arrested after bomb threat made on Mississippi college town

An intersex woman has been arrested for allegedly making bomb threats toward a Mississippi college town.

The Oxford Police Department became aware of the bomb threats onJanuary 31, 2023, and initiated a search with an "Explosive K9 unit."

The area in question in Oxford, Mississippi was deemed safe after it was searched, which prompted an investigation into the online threats.

Investigators then discovered that it was 29-year-old Lily Mestemacher who allegedly made the bomb threats on social media while inConway, Arkansas.

An arrest warrant was drafted forMestemacherfor False Reporting of Placing Explosives, andMestemacher was taken in by theConway Police Department.

Mestemacher waived extradition, according to the Oxford Police Department.

On Feb. 10,Mestemacher was transported to Oxford, Mississippi, wherea Lafayette County Justice Court judge issued a $50,000 bond for the offense.

A mugshot ofMestemacher shows that she has a beard and dyed-blonde hair with dark roots.Several social media accounts and outlets have falsely identified Mestemacher as transgender.

The National Desk received a press release from the Oxford Police Department regarding the arrest in which police refer to Mestemacher using feminine pronouns.
