Questions remain a day after Mountain Home terminates Police Chief Scott Conner
MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho (CBS2) — UPDATE: Mayor Sykes has saidthree Lieutenants running their respective departments report directly to him. The City of Mountain Home stopped paying Conner the day he was terminated.
----------------------------
One day after the Mountain Home City Council unanimously voted to terminate Police Chief Scott Conner, questions remain about what led to his dismissal.
On Wednesday, Mountain Home Mayor Rich Sykes released this statement.
“Effective October 26, 2022, with the unanimous consent of the City Council, Mayor Rich Sykes unappointed Scott Conner as the Mountain Home Chief of Police thereby terminating his position with the city pursuant to MHMC 3-1-2. While we thank him for his service to the City, the City believes a new direction is needed in the leadership of the Mountain Home Police Department."
Since terminating the Police Chief, the Mayor’s office has not answered specific questions about the dismissal of the Police Chief.
The city refers CBS2 to an Attorney who we’ve been told is not in the office today and did not respond to our calls on Wednesday.
CBS2 will continue to ask questions and keep you updated as information becomes available.
