Such a soft generation, Twitter erupts as Chicago Bulls shuts down PG Lonzo Ball for the remai
The Chicago Bulls‘ decision to shut down point guard Lonzo Ball for the remainder of the season has caused an uproar on social media. The 25-year-old American was second overall in the 2017 NBA Draft picked by the Los Angeles Lakers. He previously played for New Orleans until being traded to the Chicago Bulls in 2021.
Fans and analysts have expressed their disappointment and frustration over the news, with many questioning the Bulls’ decision to acquire Lonzo Ball in the first place if they knew he was injury-prone. Some have even gone so far as to call the $80 million deal the Bulls spent on Ball a waste.
Despite the backlash, the Bulls remain committed to their decision, stating that they want to prioritize Ball’s long-term health and ensure that he is fully recovered before returning to the court. The focus for Ball will continue to be on the resolution of his discomfort and a full return for the 2023-24 season.

Chicago Bulls point guard Lonzo Ball will miss the entire 2022-23 NBA season due to ongoing discomfort that has prevented him from fully participating in basketball activities. This news comes as no surprise, as Ball’s injury struggles have been ongoing throughout the season.
Ball was in the second year of a lucrative four-year, $80 million contract with the Bulls, but his injury troubles have limited his time on the court. During his first season with the team, he played in 35 games and averaged 13.0 points, 5.1 assists, and 5.4 rebounds, with an impressive 42% 3-point shooting percentage. Ball’s all-around skills as a passer, shooter and defender were instrumental in the Bulls’ strong start to the 2021-22 season, during which they posted a 27-13 record.
Since Ball’s absence, the Bulls have struggled to replicate his production at point guard, with a record of 45-56 during the regular season. Currently sitting in 11th place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 26-33, the team is hoping to bolster its roster with the addition of point guard Patrick Beverley. The Bulls signed Beverley on Tuesday and waived center Tony Bradley to clear roster space. The team is hoping that Beverley can provide leadership and production at point guard as they make a push for the playoffs.
